Milwaukee Police Department Office of Media and Communications
Dec. 15 - Milwaukee Police have arrested a 34-year-old Milwaukee man for impersonating a police officer on Milwaukee’s south side.
Officers Richard Villanueva and Eric Laux stopped the suspect’s vehicle for a traffic violation around 7 p.m. on December 13 in the Bay View neighborhood. The officers were talking to the driver when they heard a transmission on their police radios about a suspect that was wanted for trying to scam a Greenfield homeowner out of money. The officers quickly realized that the driver of the car matched the description of the suspect. The suspect was arrested, and additional investigation by the officers revealed that the suspect was also responsible for taking money and valuables from several Milwaukee homeowners over the past few weeks. The suspect would tell the homeowner, who was usually elderly, that he was a police officer and ask to come into the residence to talk. When the homeowner was distracted he would take property.
The suspect has a lengthy arrest record with the Milwaukee Police Department. He will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for possible charges.
